MAGNIFICO STIVALE

Literally "wonderful boot", this work is my homage to Italy and it's peculiar 'boot' shape.

One day I was talking to a tourist in Venice and she told me "You Italians just don't know Italy at all. You never travel inside your own country". That was utterly true, and so I decided to start my own trip across Italy in the most adventurous (and cliché) way possible: alone on a motorcycle. Without any path in front of my wheels, I just followed my inner compass: it soon pointed south, where I found what I was looking for.

Suddenly, after crawling on hilly roads all day long, I saw a group of men on the street playing cards. A mediterranean aroma in the air, grass growing in between the tarmac cracks and flowers on the side of the road: south Italy is my inner garden.

I traveled for many days with my ho,e keys in the pocket of my motorcycle jacket, next to my heart.
